Consumer Guarantees Act 1993
When you buy from a business in New Zealand, the law gives you automatic guarantees. They apply even after the manufacturer's warranty ends.
The Consumer Guarantees Act 1993 says goods must be of acceptable quality, fit for their purpose and match their description. If they are not, the retailer has to put it right — a repair, a replacement or a refund. You claim from the retailer you bought from, not the manufacturer, and your remedy can outlast the manufacturer's warranty.

Even when the manufacturer's warranty has ended, you may still be covered if a reasonable person would expect the product to last longer.
