Where your data is stored
- Hey Proofy is run from New Zealand.
- Your account, receipt details and receipt images are stored on secure cloud servers in the United States, through our platform provider Base44.
- Payments are handled by Stripe. We never see or store your card number.
- We protect your information to the standard required by the Privacy Act 2020, including when it is stored overseas.
How we protect it
- All data is encrypted in transit (HTTPS/TLS) and at rest.
- Our hosting provider is independently audited (SOC 2 Type II and ISO 27001 certified).
- Only you and the household members you invite can see your receipts, and each account can only reach its own household's data. A receipt you share by link is readable, read-only, by whoever holds that link and is signed in, and you can revoke it at any time.
- Our team does not look at your receipts unless you ask us to, for support.
How we use AI
- AI reads your receipts to fill in details like store, date, price and warranty period.
- When you ask Proofy a question, the question is answered from your own records, and the answer points at the records it used.
- A product's picture can be made from its name, and is illustrative rather than a photo.
- It is used only to provide Hey Proofy features to you, such as reminders, recall alerts and your data export.
What we don't do
- We don't sell or rent your data.
- We don't share your receipts with retailers or advertisers.
- We don't access your email inbox or bank accounts.
Your control
- Download your receipts and images at any time from Settings.
- Delete any receipt at any time.
- Delete your account in Settings. Your receipts, images and account details are permanently removed and any subscription is cancelled. How to delete your account.
- Ask us what data we hold about you at support@heyproofy.com.
Questions or complaints
Contact our Privacy Officer at support@heyproofy.com. We answer within 20 days. If you're not happy with our response, you can complain to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner (privacy.org.nz).

Is my data stored in NZ?

Can Hey Proofy staff see my receipts?
Only you can see your receipts. Our team does not look at them unless you ask us to, for support.
What happens to my data if I cancel my subscription?
Your receipts, warranties and reminders stay in your account. You just lose the paid features when your plan ends.
What happens if I delete my account?
Your receipts, images and account details are permanently removed, and any subscription is cancelled. This cannot be undone.
Is my data used to train AI?
We do not use your receipts to train AI models.
